"Shepreth Wildlife Park, though small in the grand zoological scheme of things, is however huge in its passion, zest and tenacity, certainly in regard to the ‘educating’ of our visitors."
"I started the official Education Programme in 2006, which we shortly followed with a lively and informative DVD, sent out to schools to encourage them to utilise our Wildlife Park as a community resource, and whet appetites for getting ‘hands-on’ animal education through our complimentary ½ hour on-site sessions."
"Help from other educators, and our own wealth of experience gave us a relevant topic structure to offer both on-site and ‘Outreach’ sessions. The enthusiasm and knowledge of my team did the rest!"

"Personally, being offered the job of Education Officer at Shepreth Wildlife Park, after years of being trapped working as a visualiser in the advertising industry, was like a breath of fresh air! I had experienced the personal enrichment of working with children in local schools as a T.A. and play worker, but now I know I have finally found my niche in life, which incorporates the love of the natural world whilst working with people. I love the opportunity of changing people’s perceptions, old and young alike, using hands-on experiences with live animals, even the rats!"

EDUCATION OFFICER
WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER
Pete Skinner

"Puffins off Scotland's wind beaten coastline, Komodo Dragons on time forgotton islands, orang-utans in the rainforests of Borneo, wildebeeste crossing the great Mara River during the migration. I have been very fortunate to travel to some wonderful locations, pursuing my ongoing passion for wildlife photography. Closer to home I am equally curious of what might turn up after spending hours at a time in spider ridden hides in the Lea Valley. Foxes, jays, pheasants and squirrels all are equally fascinating in their own way and so much can be learnt from observing their behaviour out in the field."
"My time at Shepreth Wildlife Park working with a terrific team of people, has given me a wonderful opportunity to pass on my experiences by talking to the visitors. Sharing with both young and old alike, views and comments about the natural world is very rewarding indeed. Children can ask unexpected and sometimes challenging questions. Essentially though, their inquisitveness is one part of the fuel in the process that drives me forward."
"'So what exactly is the chemical makeup of skunk scent?' one fourteen year old girl once asked. To which I had to admit defeat. I did say however I would research the question to find the answer. Later I found after consulting the internet, different species of skunk each carry a unique scent. The chemical makeup consisting of a strings of letters requiring a degree to decipher and understsand. By the way I am no chemist!"

INTERPRETATION OFFICER
Grace Dickinson

Grace Dickinson offers a zoo background in training wild animals for TV and film work, which put her in great stead for presenting our animals, anything from bugs to birds of prey. Her role now, sees her educating both visitors to the park and schools. Grace literally lives and breathes her work, and when unwanted reptiles are surrended to the park, they often end up joining her personal menagerie.
